Emerging Markets Expand, Multi-category Foreign Trade Grows Rapidly
The demand growth rate of traditional mature markets slowed down globally in 2026. Emerging economies in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America have become new growth engines for foreign trade in building materials, machinery, auto parts and general merchandise, driven by large-scale infrastructure investment, urbanization and rising purchasing power of local residents. The infrastructure boom directly promotes mass exports of steel structural materials, waterproof thermal insulation products and door & window hardware. Local projects including highways, water plants and industrial parks continuously generate purchasing orders for construction machinery, small processing equipment and agricultural machines. With the rising number of motor vehicles, import demand for fuel vehicle wearing parts, maintenance components and vehicle refitting supplies keeps increasing steadily. In terms of daily consumption, affordable home goods, kitchen and bathroom plastic products, cleaning tools and festival small commodities match local consumption levels and maintain strong shipment volume. Free trade agreements beyond RCEP have been gradually implemented, with some emerging markets cutting import tariffs on industrial goods, yet obvious regional drawbacks remain. For one thing, there are limited intercontinental ocean shipping routes with multiple transshipment links, leading to high risks of cargo damage and delivery delays, and transportation costs for large machinery and bulk building materials stay high. For another, inconsistent technical standards across regions, disparate vehicle regulations, fire resistance grades for construction materials and environmental directives for daily necessities extend trade cycles due to extra pre-compliance testing expenses. The industry has adopted systematic solutions, such as stocking goods in overseas front warehouses to offset ocean freight fluctuations, localizing product voltage, specifications and safety standards for target markets, and obtaining mandatory local certifications including ISO and CE in advance. In the medium and long term, deep cultivation of emerging blue ocean markets, establishment of localized after-sales service networks and bundled supporting supply for complete projects will further expand the growth scope of international trade for the four major product categories.
