Five core sectors including building materials, general merchandise, machinery, auto parts and agricultural food worked together to form a complete cross-border industrial circulation system in Southeast Asia, serving as a key pillar for stabilizing foreign trade volume and optimizing structure. In terms of industrial chain linkage, exported building materials supply construction materials for local industrial parks, commercial real estate and new energy infrastructure; construction and automated machinery support the commissioning of downstream processing plants; auto parts serve regional NEV assembly lines; general merchandise fills local supermarket shelves for consumer demand; bilateral trade of agricultural goods enriches people’s livelihood supply. The five categories empower each other and strengthen regional trade ties significantly. Policy-wise, the RCEP cumulative rules of origin simplify tariff calculation for multi-component products. Cross-border assembly of spare parts within the bloc can accumulate value to qualify for originating status and avoid double taxation. Mutual recognition of fast customs clearance and inspection results across member states reduce container dwell time at ports, delivering prominent benefits for time-sensitive goods such as fresh food and heavy machinery. Regional trade still faces shortcomings: unbalanced industrial development across ASEAN nations, insufficient infrastructure capacity in some economies, and divergent technical standards between member countries that inflate compliance and logistics expenses. Traders widely adopt joint overseas expansion by building shared RCEP regional overseas warehouses to conduct unified local certification, small-batch distribution and after-sales maintenance, and schedule production according to the progress of downstream engineering projects and industrial park launches. As regional industrial division deepens, bundled combined exports of the five categories and complete set supporting supply for projects will become regular practices, continuously magnifying the institutional opening dividends brought by the free trade agreement.
